Recent Happy Tails

I looked at all the caged animals in the shelter...the cast-offs of human society. I saw in their eyes love and hope, fear and dread, sadness and betrayal. And I was angry. "God," I said, "this is terrible! Why don't you do something?" God was silent for a moment and then He spoke softly. I have done something," He replied. "I created you." ~ The Animals' Savior Copyright Jim Willis 1999

Jaxson & Izzy

June 2007 & Jan. 2008
Jaxson and Izzy

My husband and I adopted our 2 Bostons from MWBTR. We got Jaxson in June of 2007 and Izzy in January of 2008. Jaxson and Izzy have brought joy, fun, love, and laughter into our home. We have no children so our boy and girl Bostons are our world! They are the most loving and wonderful doggies and we can’t thank MWBTR enough for being so great to work with. All the volunteers and foster parents we met are some of the most caring and warm individuals you could ever meet. When Jaxson and Izzy met, it was “love” at first sight! They play constantly and adore each other. We feel so blessed to have them in our home.
Thank you MWBTR!! We look forward to many wonderful years of love with our Bostons! Michelle and Pete

Bert and Buster

Midwest Boston Terrier Rescue,
Words simply cannot express just how blessed we are to now have Buster & Bert in our lives. First and foremost a well deserved "Thank you" is in order for both Colleen (for Buster) and Laura (for Bert), beyond fostering these two little gentlemen, they not only made the entire adoption experience simple and enjoyable, but they were both EXTREMELY informative and more than willing to help in any way possible. As for the dogs, we could not be happier, both Buster and Bert are very well behaved, tremendously loyal and an absolute joy to have around the house. These two guys keep us smiling for hours on end, as I said earlier we honestly feel blessed to have them with us. The entire rescue experience has been a blast, and once again we would like to thank everyone at Midwest Boston Terrier Rescue, for all the help and support, especially Cain, Colleen & Laura! Thanks again, George & Carol

Chloe

Hi.
During the time we spent fostering some of your bostons, we adopted one little gal Chloe in 2006. She fit right in to our house of one other dog and 3 cats. She was just the sweetest thing and had the best personality. In May of 2007 our eldest dog Sailor passed away and I was so thankful that we had Chloe to cheer us up. I had rescued Sailor 12 years before and it was very difficult. I was also pregnant during this time with our first baby and Chloe helped me so much during this time. She seemed to sense what was happening and instead of her usual move of pinning me down for kisses, she was more gentle. In October of 2007, our son Jackson was born. Chloe was so enamored with him and very protective. She would be very careful of who she let near the baby. She loved to give him kisses and just lay next to him. During his first year, they became fast friends. He learned to be gentle petting her face and she learned to be patient with him.

Right after we adopted Chloe we learned that she had severe valve leaks on her heart and also had cancer growing around her heart. It was an illness such a sweet girl never deserved. For the most part she was her usual self with the exception of an occasional fainting spell. During the last 6 months or so however, her episodes became more serious and frequent. She would stop breathing have to be revived. Her breathing became very shallow as fluid slowly filled her lungs. She finally passed away recently on Christmas Eve. It has been very sad this holiday season without her.

We are so greatful for MWBT rescue and for our time with Chloe. We hope to adopt and/or foster again, once the sadness subsides.

I just wanted to share Chloe's story.
Thank you, Kelly

Olivia (f.k.a. Megan)

May 2008
Olivia
Olivia

Megan is not what I expected when my husband Steven, our deaf boxer Sasha and I drove 10 hours down to Ohio from Toronto, Ontario in April of 2008. The first beautiful boston terrier did not get along with Sasha. We looked for another available boston terrier. The foster mom just picked the dirty boston terrier at the nearby killing shelter on the same day. We met her. Wow, a big and energetic boston terrier. 26 pounds! She was not evaluated yet. We met her with her foster mom the next day at the vet. She came with heart murmur and loose skins. How could we, deaf people hear to detest her heart? I didn't know what to think and asked for more time to think. My family went home sadly. During Megan's weekly check up with vet, Steven and I decided to give her a second chance and a lots of loves regardless of her heart murmur.

Steven, Sasha and I had another long trip in May of 2008. I was very nervous and excited all the way until I met her. She was so hard on leash. She was curious and sniffed in the air. She was in the cage in the back of my car, looking out the windows with her big wide eyes. She fell asleep. Then I knew she was just okay. Megan was brought to our home as her new name was given as Olivia after the children's book, Olivia the pig in red dress over black and white stripes stockings. She reminds me of my late boston terrier who passed away from the tumor in November of 2007. I saw the dirts in her ears. I tried to clean her but she snapped. I continued to master my skills to wipe dirts off her ears. After some time, she enjoys me cleaning her ears all the time. I love how she sits like a human. Her legs stick out flat. She had difficult time to adjust to take her business outside and eat. She had parasites in her stomach. She got better with medicine.

I discovered more about Olivia. She has tattoo on her hind leg, cute pink baggy belly and crocked tail. About two months, she accepts her new family and home. She loves to sleep in our bed. I told her to move to the foot of the bed. She moved herself just one inch! I had to shove her myself.

All of that, she loves to sit, sleep and bark at strayed cats on the front bay window, sleep next to me while tucking under her favourite blanket, watching tv, adoring her human daddy, yearning for snacks, chicken or bacon, wrestling with Sasha, chasing around with Sasha in the backyard and walking. She is not good at leash but she loves it. She does not bark. She howled like a wolf! Olivia really drives my husband and me crazy. She just sleeps or open one of her eyes, glazing cool while she breaks wind. I feel that my house is complete with our wonderful dogs. Hao-Wen

Chloe

On October 4th, 2008, my husband and I drove to the Jackson area (3 1/2 hour drive) to meet and adopt ChinaMI198. She was being fostered by Darbye Stewart and raced to the door to greet us with lots of enthusiasm and kisses. My husband sat down and she immediately jumped on his lap and snuggled in. We knew it was a match!!! We have a 9 year old BT named Little Bug and he needed a friend.

I had considered MWBTR for a long time. We finally put in our application and the process only took about a month. China's name was changed to Chloe and we absolutely adore her. Bug looks massive next to her, but she keeps him busy all day long! We let her in the bed the first night and she burrowed down to our knees and that is where you will find her every night! She gives lots of kisses freely, as if she is still so grateful to be a part of our family. Chloe is now a spoiled little girl and it was love at first sight for her and Bug.

Her birthday was on Christmas and we had a great day! We look forward to many years with Chloe and are so appreciative to everyone associated with MWBTR.

Thanks for matching us up with this little blessing! David and Deb

Hope

Hi All,

I just wanted to let you know that Hope is doing VERY Well. She has become such the lover. Her and Eddie are getting along very well. She rules the roost.

Because of Hope, Eddie is walking better! He chases heraround the house. I have attached some pictures. They are both very spoiled. Hope has a HUGE wardrobe.

I recently went out of town for work and she stayed home with my husband and kids. When I got back she couldn't stop kissing me.

When we first got her we forgot she couldn't hear. We couldn't find her. We looked all over the place for her and then realized she couldn't hear us. So we all tapped on the floor. She was hiding under the chair. She doesn't do that any more. She likes to be in the center of the action.

We have pulled back on some of the herbal supplements she was taking. They were a godsend when we first got her. Now she is simply a Viers!

She gives kisses and everyday when dad gets home she chases after his pant leg to get attention. She is quite the celebrity at work. She has gone to work with me several times. Everybody loves her. She eats like a horse. But is still only 10 pounds. But the vet says she is just petite. Ed, calls her Ms.Dainty.

Thank god for her foster Mom Michelle. We still keep in touch.

Please let everyone know what a great success she is. She is truly loved!

We are very blessed to have her and appreciate all you do! Can't wait until summer so I can bring her for show and tell! Heidi

Stanley Cup (f.k.a. Abe)

Stanley Cup

We adopted Stanley Cup in October, 2008. He is about 6 months old now and we can't even remember what our life was like without him. He has already learned lots of tricks like sit, lay down, roll over, shake, and leave it. Stanley loves to play and snuggle with us on the couch.

He is our best friend. Thank you midwest boston terrier rescue! Paul and Molly

Albert & Trixie (f.k.a. Brandi)

2004
Albert
Trixie

After our first Boston Rigbee died we knew we needed to love a Boston again so we contacted MWBTR in 2004 to adopt a little girl. Before we chose our new girl Denise Yoder asked my husband (who was living in Stevensville MI at the time) if he would foster a new dog that had just come in with heartworm. When Denise and her husband dropped off Albert my husband called me after 5 minutes and said he wanted to keep him. A few weeks later we added Trixie to our family (fka Brandy). We have loved every minute we have spent with Albert and Trixie, they are our kids. Albert was my husbands best friend, so much so that when my husband would hug me Albert would bark his displeasure. Every day Trixie and Albert would do something cute to make us laugh. Unfortunately our special boy Albert was diagnosed with liver cancer in September. We did all we could for him but he lost the fight in January. We miss him so much but we know he has gone over the rainbow bridge where he is romping with as many sqeaky toys as he wants. We are just now looking for a new member of our family, a BT brother for Trixie. (maybe a sister too!) Thanks to everyone at MWBTR for all you do for these wonderful and loving dogs.

Thanks to everyone at MWBTR for all you do for these wonderful and loving dogs. Kelli Kline

Charlie

Charlie

I just had to write and talk about my Charlie girl.

This wonderful girl came to live with me on January 1, 2009. Charlie has been such a blessing to my family. She lives with me and my mother and we just cannot be happier. When I am working, Charlie is at home taking care of my mother. When I come home from work, she is at the front door anxiously greeting me. I cannot tell you how happy I am that Charlie is part of our lives.

She has brought us so much happiness. Thank you MWBTR. Gloria Dean

Dear Midwest Boston Terrier Rescue,

We adopted Grizzly through the MWBTR in March as a playmate for our pug, Bella. They have quickly become like brother and sister! He's also great with our children, who absolutely adore him! Grizzly has been a wonderful addition to our family;

I think we really got lucky finding this little guy! Erin Minch

Meiko (f.k.a. Nastasha)

Meiko
Meiko

I just wanted to send a quick note with some photos, saying thanks for bringing Meiko into my life. When we adopted her when her name was Nastasia...so we changed it to Meiko, seems to fit her crazy personality a little bit better. She brings so much happiness and joy into my world, I don't know what I'd do without her. Rob and I love to scratch her belly, let her sleep under the covers, try to teach her fetch, and just enjoy her persence. She is so kind to all our friends welcoming them with kisses and dance. Often I'm late to work because she is just way too cute snuggled up with me in the morning. She is best friends with my moms dog, Jack, a Saluki so Meiko looks forward to going back to MI to play with him. They chase eachother around for hours...I don't know how she does it!! It has been really really cold here in Madison so she has a vierty of sweaters and coats to choose from for our short walks. When the weather was warmer Meiko and I gofor 1 mile jogs and she loves it. Her mange cleared right up. I love when I come home and let her out of her kennel she'll have saved the three cookies I gave her and parade around the house with them as if they were a prize. I absolutly love this dog!

I hope everyone has this much fun with their adopted Boston. She has changed my life! .

Thank you Thank you Thanks you. BrieLynn Hanna

Lucky

Lucky

I was just sitting here with my little guy, Lucky, thinking, "we are the happiest people ever since we adopted him," and I had to share it with someone. We adopted Lucky through Midwest Boston Terrier rescue about a year and a half ago. He is the BEST little guy EVER!!!! He loves playing in the park chasing his ball, going on long walks, and playing with his ring. What I love most about him, though, is that he also loves cuddling up on the couch and being a sweetheart. The vet’s office LOVES him... he’s so well behaved and the neighbors are always admiring how calm he is (literally he barks about once a month - it looks like it even surprises him when it comes out of his mouth - ha!). I just have to thank Midwest Boston Terrier Rescue for all they do so we had the opportunity to be united with Lucky. We are so blessed and will definitely be adopting again in the future.

We are so blessed and will definitely be adopting again in the future.

With deepest sincerity, Amanda

Sydney

May 2008
Sydney and Evie

I adopted Sydney in May of '08 to be a companion for my 3 year old BT Evie. We had a bit of a rocky start as both wanted to be top dog in the house and Sydney had a lot of anxiety to deal with. A year later and everyone has settled in just great. Sydney is the biggest love bug and her antics are so funny. The two of them love to chase, play tug, snooze in the sun and sniff the yard galore. I'm really happy that Sydney joined our family and can't even remember what it was like without her.

Here they are last Christmas Eve in their snow gear (Evie on the left, Sydney right).

Thanks MWBTR! Angie Brotcke

Jack and Annie

May 2009
Jack and Annie

Jack and Annie has made our house a home! Brother and sister, they had to be adopted together, now I cant amagine only adopting one. They have brought so much life to our home from daily walks, rough housing, photo sessions, vet visits and they visit at a local nursing home where the elder LOVE them. .

Thank you MWBTR, Denise Yoder for driving them half way to us and also Roz Hall for fostering them until we adopted

We are truly blessed to have them in our lifes! Matese

Sherman and Rhoda

Jan 2009 and 2006
Sherman
Rhoda

We adopted Sherman in January of 2009. We had already adopted one dog Rhoda, a Boston/Bull Terrier mix. We had her for about three years, and decided she needed a buddy to pal around with. So that brings us to Sherman. We had looked at another Boston to adopt, but were looking for a little larger dog to go along with Rhoda who is about 40 lbs. We were told that there was a larger Boston terrier named Sherman who we needed to meet. We did. Needless to say, he was exactly what we were looking for. He is a happy little dog. A little crazy. A little nuts. But a loving boy nonetheless. Sherman enjoys chewing on his nylabones, going to puppy daycare on Fridays, hanging out on the deck, and going on walks where he is exceptional on his leash.

Sherman has definitely added even more spice to our lives..

We enjoy having Sherman and we believe that his sister Rhoda likes him too. Chris and Sarah.

Dempsey

March 2009

I adopted Dempsey about 4 months ago. She is the perfect dog for me and for anyone. She was a perfect match for me. She loves riding in the car and snuggling. She freely gives kisses to any human she meets. She makes no messes in the house and patiently waits until I get home for work at night. She loves playing fetch with her dental bone and could play fetch as long as I can. She loves going for walks. When I first got her she was afraid of other dogs and would shake all over when one was around. Yesterday we had a break through! She met a big German Shepherd and walked up to him and gave the dog a kiss. No shaking.

She is just the perfect dog in every way. I can't imagine life without her. .

Thanks to the Rescue Group for finding the perfect match for me. RJ

Ollie

Ollie
Ollie

We adopted Ollie on December 13th, 2008. He has been so much fun to get to know. We didn't really know what to expect, as it took him a little while to adjust. He has just become the world's greatest dog. He is everything we expected. Very well mannered, excellent with people and children. Of course, he loves his ball! We couldn't have asked for a better dog and we couldn't thank you enough for giving us this opportunity.

He has truly exceeded our expectations. We now recommend Boston Terriers, and your rescue league, to everyone we know.

Thank you again, Matt and Kristin Wagner

Maggie

June 2009
Maggie
Maggie

She is our little Miss Maggie. She has taken over our hearts. She plays me and Dad and cannot decide on whom she will sit on the mornings. She is a very special dog and has fit in very well in our families. All the children love her, as do all our childrens dogs. Maggie can't wait to go for a walk with Dad almost every day. She is very well trained and gives lots of kisses to every one. She doesnt jump up as much as she use to do. Having info on Miss Maggie from the former owner helped a lot to know more on what she did and still does. She is a lot of fun having around. She listens more than my children did. HA! HA!

I hope everyone has this much fun with their adopted Boston. She has changed my life! .

Thank you Alyce and Ralph
