I looked at all the caged animals in the shelter...the cast-offs of human society. I saw in their eyes love and hope, fear and dread, sadness and betrayal. And I was angry. "God," I said, "this is terrible! Why don't you do something?" God was silent for a moment and then He spoke softly. I have done something," He replied. "I created you." ~ The Animals' Savior Copyright Jim Willis 1999

Baxter

Baxter

We have just gone through a few bad years losing my mother, two cats of old age, and my 12 year old snuggling, diet breaking, dog of cancer. My kids, my remaining 12-year-old dog Buddy, and I were lost and alone; after awhile we discussed getting another dog. Since all our other dogs had come from shelters or rescue organizations, we knew that we would choose another dog in need of a home. We had a Boston Terrier Schnauzer mix in the past and felt that another Boston Terrier is what we were looking for to add to our family. We found Midwest Boston Terrier rescue online and searched through the adoptees. The entire family liked a cute little two-year-old dog named Baxter. When we finally met Baxter it was love at first sight for all of us. Buddy had a little brother to play with and to take care of again. I think it added years to Buddy; he acts like a puppy again. Baxter was a bit shy of my husband John, but now he is John's little “Baxter boy”. He is my sons’ tug-of-war partner and my daughters undercover snuggle partner. We cannot imagine our house without Baxter, he makes it complete. Thanks to everyone at Midwest Boston Terrier rescue for bringing us together. John, Annette, Austin, and Alyssa

Sebastian (f.k.a. Robo)

Sebastian

After getting Baxter from MWBTR and settling him into his new home, we decided to adopt another Boston Terrier. Again we looked over the website for about a month and after several possibilities we were able to arrange a visit with Roboduex (a.k.a Rodo). So, we traveled 14 hours and a 1000 miles round trip bringing home a new 5 month old puppy. Our daughter renamed him Sebastian or Bastian for short. He is affectionately nicknamed “Poopie”, being a puppy it fit well, but the nickname stuck even after he settled into a normal routine. Sebastian’s training has been good. We are glad we have two other dogs because of his seemingly endless energy, when we get tired of playing he turns his attention to one or both of them until he is ready for a quick nap, after which he starts all over again. Bastian has brought so much laughter and energy into our house everyday. Thanks again MWBTR John, Annette, Austin, and Alyssa

My name is Kermit! My mom and dad saw my picture on the Petfinder website in February, 2008, and decided they just HAD to adopt me! I was rescued by MWBTR from a puppy mill that was downsizing. My new mom and dad picked me up from my foster home (12 hours round-trip…. Whew!) on Valentine’s Day weekend when I was only 8 weeks old and 4 pounds. They loved me instantly, and I have licked up all of their attention ever since (Boy, do I like to lick)! I am now almost 8 months old and 17 pounds, and have a giant amount of personality packed into my whirling, twirling little body! There are so many things I love to do that I would not have had the chance to experience if it were not for MWBTR.

Kermit & friend

I am an explorer and spend hours investigating my own backyard every day…. I hunt bugs, run laps, and lie on the deck in the sun (I love the sun, despite this furry tuxedo I’m wearing). I love to go hiking and play fetch with my mom and dad, and I love other dogs (my “trail buddies”) and anyone who will pay attention to me. My mom and dad had never had dogs before, I am their first, and they can’t believe how much fun I am. They took me to puppy class to learn how to talk to me and help me behave, and I was the star student! I know how to “sit,” “come,” lay “down,” and “stay” now, and mom and dad are working on teaching me “off” so that I don’t jump up on people when they come in our door (even though they want me to jump on them and lick them, I just know it!). My mom and dad crate-trained me and I am completely housebroken… even though I did have some accidents along the way (one on my dad’s lap and another in his laptop case… oops!) I love my home and my mom and dad are very thankful for your help! Jake & April

Barney (f.k.a. Wriggly)

My son and daughter-in-law recently adopted two Boston terriers from Midwest. After visiting them I was hooked! When I got home I neatly when to the web site and found a special dog initiate his name was Wrigley. My son drove us to Michigan to visit with Wrigley and bring him to his new home and gave him a new name, Barney. I think he has the house set up in the order that he likes, he has his father of well-trained to spoil him. Barney is great with all the grandkids and the neighbor kids. Barney loves to go to my sons house to play with his Boston terriers, sometimes I am afraid he will not want to come home, but he always does, with his little but wiggling and lots of kisses we go home. I could imagine a better dog and Barney in our family. Ralph & Alice

Hi everyone it’s me Reggie!
First of all I want to thank everyone for helping me to get my surgery. According to my foster mother I was a hit at the hospital, I had all the nurses and doctors after me, they gave me a wonderful gift, I can see!!! They could only fix one eye but a whole world opened up to me. I could finally see my foster family, they help me to recover and took great care of me. They showed me new things like bubbles - they taste awful. Even though I was not supposed to I chase my foster brother and played ball. I think playing ball is greatest thing in the world!! I could chase that round thing all day if they let me. Guess what, other good thing happened, I was adopted. My new family came from somewhere call Wisconsin, I watched out the window all the way while being itched and petted by my new mother. When I got my new home I was greeted by two other Boston Terriers also from MBTR, they were Baxter and Sebastian. There was also another big dog named Buddy that keeps us all in line. My parents gave me lots of balls to play with, I think I can carry one with me in my mouth all the time. I have a large fenced in yard to run in and many balls to play with. My mother says I can go to bathroom on the colorful bushes she calls flowers. My parents will not let me rough house with my brothers yet, they say have to wait until the doctors tell him it's OK. I think I will show the doctor my charm and give him my special look then he will let me get my way. Everything has worked out great for me and it is all thanks to each of you, so if I could I would give you all a ball, then of course I would have to play ball with you!
